O God, you make this most holy night to shine with the glory of the risen Christ, stir up in your Church a spirit of adoption, so that, renewed in mind and body, we may dedicate our lives wholeheartedly to your service; through Jesus Christ who is alive with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
God, the source of all our strength; watch over us within and without, that in body we may be protected from all adversity, and in mind cleansed from all destructive thoughts; through our Saviour Jesus Christ, who is alive with you and the Holy Spirit, one God now and for ever. Amen.
Almighty and ever-living God, clothed in majesty, whose beloved Son was this day presented in the Temple, in substance of our flesh: grant that we may be presented to you with pure and clean hearts, by your Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who is alive and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, those who mourn, the meek, those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, the merciful, the pure in heart, the peacemakers, those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, and you when people revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account."
Pour forth, we beseech you, O God,] your grace into our hearts, that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ your Son was made known by the message of an angel, may, by his passion and cross, be brought to the glory of his resurrection, through Jesus Christ, our Saviour, who is alive with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
