The decision by former NSW premier Mike Baird to reject Prime Minister Scott Morrisonâs overture to run in the once-safe Sydney seat of Warringah may allow a state MP, Natalie Ward, to become the candidate of the Liberal Partyâs left faction.
Mr Baird, the chief executive of nursing home group HammondCare, has ruled himself out of running for the seat held by independent Zali Steggall.
Mike Baird has told Liberal Party members he does not want to run in Warringah.Â
