The Utah Lieutenant Governor’s Office confirmed that a referendum measure on SB31 did not receive votes needed to send any bill to a future ballot.

A bill that creates a new Utah state flag wont go to a referendum after organizers opposed to the new flag failed to gather enough signatures.

In addition to approving Utahs new state flag, Gov. Cox issued an executive order outlining how the historic flag will continue to be displayed.

A group of Utah residents filed paperwork Monday seeking a referendum on SB31, the Utah State Lieutenant Governors Office confirmed.

Another twist in Utah’s state flag saga has emerged less than a week after the state Legislature narrowly passed a bill that designates a new design.
