The ruling BJP has managed to contain dissent in most areas in the run up to the Goa Assembly polls scheduled for February 14, but four seats, including the prestigious Panaji constituency, continue to be a cause for worry.
Denied tickets by the party, three BJP leaders have decided to fight the upcoming Goa Assembly election as independents against the candidates fielded by their own party.
Soon after the BJP released its first list of 34 candidates for the February 14 state Assembly polls, the next challenge for the ruling party may well be to address the simmering dissent in various constituencies, where party leaders including former Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar and former CM late Manohar Parrikar s son Utpal, are threatening to raise a banner of revolt against the party.
