For the millions of people who have the Amazon Prime service, this news may be concerning, particularly as it relates to a sum of money being charged.
To supposedly resolve the issue, Britons are being told they need to press one to take further action and dispute the charge if they wish.
But pressing one could have devastating consequences for the individual receiving the call, even if they do not realise it.
It is from this point that the cybercriminals, posing as Amazon representatives, are likely to ask for personal information in a ruse which attempts to harvest details.
