Saugus High School graduating seniors have names displayed on banners

Wicked Local All 173 members of the Saugus High School Class of 2021 can see their names and pictures on banners raised around town as a tribute to the graduating seniors. The School Department paid for the creation of the banners, which are spread throughout Saugus Center and Cliftondale Square. “These are our kids and we wanted to do something to show we appreciate them,” said School Committee Chairman Tom Whittredge. Department of Public Works employees Tim Wendell and Mike Dockery coordinated the effort to put up the banners. Last year, the Board of Selectmen and Town Manager Scott Crabtree provided banners featuring the names and photos of each Saugus High School student in the Class of 2020.

Fourth grader wins Edgecomb Eddy spelling bee

Principal Ira Michaud reported the day was filled exciting fun educational activities. But the 99th day was also an important date on the school calendar. Edgecomb Eddy held its annual spelling bee via Zoom conference. This year’s champion speller is fourth grader Jillian Murray who successfully spelled “brambles” in claiming the title. Hattie Tomko was the runner-up.
