HOLYOKE State education officials remain mum Thursday on School Receiver Alberto Vazquez Matos’ ongoing leave of absence or employment status.
Vazquez Matos took leave following a Feb. 8 School Committee meeting, where he stated he had COVID-19. He did not say if he still had the virus or recovered.
At the time, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education would not comment on why Vazquez Matos was on leave, a continuing trend.
An email seeking a direct comment from Vazquez Matos went unanswered.
Vazquez Matos’ tenure as receiver of the Holyoke Public Schools began July 1. He previously served in the Hartford, Connecticut Public Schools.
