A comprehensive housing study released Wednesday by the Nevada Rural Housing Authority breaks down Carson Citys housing shortage as it stands today, but several new developments either underway or being planned in Carson City should put a dent into the demand, said NRHA Deputy Director Bill Brewer.

The Andersen Ranch Estates project was discussed at length — almost four hours in fact — at Thursday’s Carson City Board of Supervisor’s meeting, before being approved by the board on a 4-1 vote.

Carson City’s 18 playgrounds bring joy and relaxation for an average of about 3,000 citizens per location. But they’re also a potential liability to the city if anyone gets hurt using any one of them. The Parks and Recreation Commission is deciding how best to properly maintain each location and whether to reduce the total number in its park system, according to a discussion at its April 6 meeting.
