The dilapidated State Line Bridge, which spans the Kankakee River but serves no function other than to cause problems on the river, will be removed soon, the river’s government commission learned Thursday.
The commission dedicated to improving the Kankakee River in Indiana has devoted much of its funding for the past two years on projects along the Kankakee’s main tributary.
A long-closed, one-lane bridge over the Kankakee River at the southwest corner of Lake County soon may be removed for rehabilitation and reuse at a park in central Indiana.
