On Quality of Life Andrew Yang: What’s been holding back the development of affordable housing in New York City, which is that everyone’s for it in the abstract. And then when you say, hey, it’s coming to your district or community, then all of a sudden their enthusiasm heads the other direction. So when you talk about the will of the people, if you go to folks citywide and say, hey, you know, it’s clear that we’re short tens, hundreds of thousands of affordable housing units, like, do we want them built? The vast majority of New Yorkers will say, heck, yes. And so that to me is where we should be leading.

The two leading candidates in the New York City mayor’s race battled to protect their advantages in a hard-hitting Democratic debate on Thursday evening while their six rivals grasped for breakout moments, sought to redefine the stakes of the contest and put forth their own visions for the struggling city.
The contenders clashed over government experience, ideology and public safety in confrontations that sometimes devolved into acrid personal attacks.
Andrew Yang behaved, and was attacked, like a front-runner. Maya Wiley came out swinging. And all eight candidates tried to stand out in an awkward virtual debate format.

I do believe I believe it right now that women have the right and a safe space, I hope, to make any allegations, even if it’s inconvenient to me. And I have strenuously denied every one of those allegations and the voters will probe and ask for facts and for discussion, and I’m happy to answer every part of this. I take it very seriously.
