Dakota Fanning to Star in Showtime Drama Series RIPLEY She joins Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Andrew Scott who stars in the title role of Tom Ripley.by TV News Desk SHOWTIME has announced that Dakota Fanning (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood) will join the new drama series RIPLEY, based on Patricia Highsmith s bestselling quintet of Tom Ripley novels. Fanning will play Marge Sherwood, an American living in Italy who suspects darker motives underlie Tom s affability. She joins Emmy and Golden Globe nominee Andrew Scott (Fleabag, Sherlock) who stars in the title role of Tom Ripley, and Johnny Flynn (Beast) as Dickie Greenleaf. Oscar and Golden Globe® winner and Emmy® nominee Steven Zaillian (Schindler s List, The Night Of) will write and direct the entire first season. Production will start later this year in Italy. The announcement was made by Amy Israel, Executive Vice President, Scripted Programming, Showtime Networks Inc.

Michelle Pfeiffer would star as Betty Ford in the anthology series “ The First Lady.” The network also announced that Oscar, Emmy, and Golden Globe winner Susanne Bier would direct and executive produce the project, which also stars and is executive produced by Oscar, Emmy and Tony winner Viola Davis, who will play former first lady Michelle Obama. The description reads, “The First Lady is a revelatory reframing of American leadership, told through the lens of the women at the heart of the White House.” Produced by Showtime and Lionsgate Television, the series is executive produced by Oscar-winner Cathy Schulman, Viola Davis, Julius Tennon, Andrew Wang, Jeff Gaspin, and Brad Kaplan, and created by author Aaron Cooley, who will write several of the episodes and executive produce. Showtime announced on Thursday that the 62-year-old actress will star as Betty Ford in its upcoming anthology series, The First Lady. Ford, who served as first lady from 1974 to 1977, set a precedent as a politically active presidential spouse through her candid nature and work in social policy. She frequently commented on hot-button issues and was open about her long-running battle with alcoholism and substance abuse. Ford also founded The Betty Ford Center, a non-profit residential treatment center in Rancho Mirage, California, for those struggling with substance dependence. She died in 2011, almost five years after her husband, President Gerald Ford.
