The newest location of Taqueria Los Pericos in Aptos is now serving customers. The taqueria opened last week at 36 Rancho Del Mar. The menu includes tacos, breakfast and regular burritos, nachos, Huevos Rancheros, Aguas Frescas, and beer. Taqueria Los Pericos also has locations in Santa Cruz and Watsonville.

The brewery and taproom New Bohemia Brewing Co., also known as NUBO, has shuttered its doors. Co-founder and brewmaster Dan Satterthwaite announced the closing on Instagram late last week, and included the fact he has brewed more than 100 different lagers and ales during the brewery’s nearly-nine-year tenure.

Nick Sherman, chef/owner of popular Capitola restaurant Trestles, is opening restaurant Cavalletta on Thursday at 9067 Soquel Drive (the former site of Restaurant Malik Williams).

The Penny Ice Creamery is holding its annual Eat Ice Cream for Breakfast event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at all locations. Also, the ice cream shop has Valentine’s heart-shaped ice cream pies, featuring dark chocolate ice cream, sea salt, caramel, and a chocolate crumb crust, available at stores and online.

Manresa Bread, Anouchka Bakery and The Buttery are now offering pre-orders for tasty holiday treats.

Chef Jayne Droese has opened La Marea Café & Pizzeria at the former site of Reef Dog Deli in Capitola. Before opening this brick-and-mortar restaurant, Droese operated the popup Jayne Dough for the past two years, creating Detroit-style sourdough pizza. This signature pizza is on the La Marea menu.

Staff of Life Natural Foods is partnering with Smart Chicken to support Watsonville’s Second Harvest Food Bank. Throughout November, for every 10 pounds of Smart Chicken purchased at Staff of Life in Santa Cruz and Watsonville, Staff of Life and Smart Chicken will donate one pound of chicken to Second Harvest Food Bank of Santa Cruz County.

Santa Cruz Restaurant Week runs from Oct. 18-25. The eight-night event showcases two dozen local restaurants. Diners can choose from three-course, fixed-price dinner menus for $35, $45 or $55 depending on the restaurant. Menus often include three options each for appetizer, entrée and dessert. Britannia Arms is donating 50% of proceeds all day long on Sept. 27 to the Capitola Wharf Enhancement Project (an all-volunteer community group). Breakfast starts at 10:30 a.m., followed by lunch and dinner. The group is raising funds to enhance the city of Capitola’s Wharf Resiliency and Public Access Project — creating extra features like picnic tables.

The annual Live Like a Greek Festival is in the courtyard of Prophet Elias Greek Orthodox Church this weekend. There will be Greek food for sale including souvlaki (lamb, pork, or chicken skewers), gyros, lamb-rice meatballs, spanakopita, and Greek salad. Desserts include baklava and several other handmade pastries, and drinks include Greek wine, beer and Greek coffee.
