Sculptor Alonso Sierralta will be honored by the Anderson Center at an outdoor reception event commemorating the installation of âHoldâ in the Sculpture Garden. The reception will be 3-5 p.m. Saturday, May 22.Â
This event will also serve as a capstone showcase of art made by students in the Red Wing Youth Outreach and Hispanic Outreach of Goodhue County after school programs. Students worked with Sierralta as part of the Sculpture Garden Engagement Program.
Sierralta moved from Chile to the U.S. when he was 14. He studied in Nebraska before settling in northeast Minneapolis. He has a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Nebraska. He has received several awards, including a Next Step grant from the McKnight Foundation, and his work has been featured throughout Minnesota and in numerous national shows. Sierralta has public work on display at Stevens Point Sculpture Park and at Silverwood Park.

Shoreline Dance recitalsÂ
Dance recitals will be held at the Sheldon Theatre on Saturday, May 22. The competition recital will be at 9 a.m. Recitals are also scheduled for noon and 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $10 for students.Â
Czarna Wolgaster Intergalactic Balkan Surf Jazz Trio
The trio will perform at 7 p.m. at the Sheldon Theatre on Saturday, May 22. The Sheldonâs website describes this groupâs music as âa strange, other-worldly cocktail of Balkan beats and Milky-Way mischief crossed with the American songbook, Hollywood film soundtracks, and more.â

Join sculptor Alonso Sierralta for an outdoor reception event commemorating the installation of his sculpture, âHold,â in the Anderson Center Sculpture Garden from 3 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 22. Red Wing High School will hold prom Saturday, May 22.Â
The grand march will take place outdoors so community members can watch. Prom participants will march out the schoolâs main doors and follow the street toward the back of the school, past the greenhouse and enter prom behind the cafe.Â
Spectators are asked to stay on the grass and practice social distancing. Bring your lawn chairs and blankets.
Prom will begin immediately after the grand march and end at 10:30 p.m.
