The Delhi High Court dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) requesting direction to the Election Commission of India to develop a mechanism to allow political leaders and candidates to campaign virtually with reasonable restrictions. The court noted that if this was done, criminals like Dawood Ibrahim and rapists could form political parties and contest elections through video conferencing. The bench also noted the propoganda behind these types of petitions and imposed costs on the petitioners for filing frivolous pleas.
