7月5日11时许，广西德保县一名村医在山林地的路边发现一只穿山甲，疑似受伤。当天傍晚，广西陆生野生动物救护研究与疫源疫病监测中心专家组一行5人赶到德保县森林公安局，对穿山甲进行检查救治。
7月5日上午，刚被村医梁医生发现的穿山甲，腹部肿胀，伤势较严重。
为让穿山甲得到更好的救助，自治区野生动物保护部门于7月12日邀请广西中医药大学、南宁动物园、北海市爱诺宠物医院等单位的专家对穿山甲进行会诊，并于13日将穿山甲送到北海市爱诺宠物医院进行救治。经过接力救治，7月15日开始，这只穿山甲的情况逐渐好转，能主动
