A WEYMOUTH man who ‘executed’ a father with a shotgun almost thirty years ago has failed in his appeal against his murder conviction. Andrew Everson, formerly of The Esplanade, Weymouth, was found guilty of killing David Watkins in Pingewood, Burghfield in January 1993 despite being originally cleared of his murder one year later. Everson, aged 56, was handed a minimum 27-year sentence following a 2019 verdict. Everson had lured dad-of-two Mr Watkins to a ‘remote location’ on Seales Farm Lane, where he was forced to kneel down and shot in the back of the head. Police believed Everson murdered Watkins because he ‘needed to find cash’.
