Radius Housing is building 119 new homes in the area

Radius Housing is building 119 new homes in the Creggan area.
The project will also bring major improvements to the facilities at Sean Dolan’s GAA club and the construction of a new multi-use community facility on the site.
The project will transform the lands to the west of the current Sean Dolan GAC grounds at Bligh’s Lane and represents an investment in excess of £20million in the Creggan area.

A special online tribute will be held this evening in memory of Derry man Eamon Peggy McCourt.
The 62-year-old Creggan man died at Altnagelvin Hospital on Saturday after contracting Covid-19.
He will be buried today.
His death has led to many tributes for a man regarded as being at the heart of the community in Creggan.
In 1981, Mr McCourt was wounded when members of the SAS opened fire on a car in Creggan.

We were Lone Moor Road neighbours, schoolmates and this friendship continued to adulthood.
He was one of our gang when our base was around Hippsleys shop in old Bishop Street opposite the jail.
The best of craic, flour fights on the Walls, music, fingers in the sweety jars and innocent liaisons. JED was always there.
We played Gaelic football together with the Sean Dolans team (the real Dolans as in the photo above); JED sitting second right beside another legend John Duffy.

Planning permission was today granted for a major new housing development in the Creggan area of Derry.
The development, which will be located beside the Sean Dolans GAA ground, will incorporate 119 properties.
These will include 50 two-bedroom houses, 37 three-bedroom houses and eight four-bedroom houses.
There will also be 15 one-bedroom apartments and nine two-bedroom apartments.
As well as the new houses, the project will also see the extension and refurbishment of the current facilities of the Sean Dolans club.
