Former Prosecutor Sean Warner was elected to take over for Rinfret, whose term ends Feb. 8.
The most rewarding, and perhaps difficult, part of his time on the court and as an attorney, he said, was removing kids from bad parents.
He recalled his first meth case in 1990. He got a call from the Department of Human Services and was told the agency had to pull a child, who wasn t even born yet, from his family. The mom was at the hospital getting ready to deliver. They did a drug test and she was positive for meth, he said. They wanted to take the child because they didn t want it to be addicted to meth. I asked what s meth.
MILLERSBURG It was out with the old and in with the new on New Year s Eve at the Holmes County Common Pleas Court, as former Prosecuting Attorney and newly elected Common Pleas Judge Sean Warner administered the oath of office to his replacement, Matt Muzic.
Warner said he felt comfortable at these proceedings, as it was four years earlier he was sworn in as prosecutor, and he had hired Muzic as an assistant prosecutor. It has been a pleasure to see Matt develop not only as an attorney, but specifically as a prosecutor, Warner said. He has a great mindset and he s going to do a great job. I m very proud of him. Congratulations, Matt. The reign of terror is over.
