Jumpers Shine on Final Day of Vanderbilt Invitational

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Florida State track and field team was led by triple jumpers Jeremiah Davis and Kayla Pinkard on Saturday at the Vanderbilt Invitational in Nashville, Tenn. Both Davis and Pinkard posted all-time top ten marks for the Seminoles. The reigning ACC Men's Field Performer of the Week, Davis showed out again this time in the triple jump. Davis put down a mark of 16.44m which is tied for the third-best mark in school history and ranks third in the NCAA this season. In just her second collegiate meet, Pinkard shined in the triple jump with the ninth-best mark in school history (13.04m) to win the event. In the men's 400m dash, the Seminoles took the top three spots in the event as Sean Watkins Jr. (47.08) won the event with DaeQwan Butler (47.13) and Alex Collier (47.19) followed in second and third. Braman, Cunningham and Watkins Jr Take ACC Awards

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Three Seminoles took home ACC awards Thursday afternoon. Head Coach Bob Braman was named the ACC Men's Coach of the Year. Trey Cunningham was named ACC Men's Track Performer of the Year, and Sean Watkins Jr. was named ACC Co-Freshmen of the Year. The Noles led all teams with three winners. Coach Braman picked up his 14th ACC coaching accolade across the cross country, indoor track and field and outdoor track and field seasons. Braman just completed his 19th season with the Seminoles and picked up his 32nd ACC title, the most among active coaches. Braman led the men to one of the most dominant performances in ACC Championship history this past season. The Noles scored 149 points and won by 56 points, the most since league expansion. The Noles also finished fourth at the NCAA Outdoor Championships, its highest finish since 2012. Cunningham added another award to his resume. Eight Noles and Two Relay Teams Advance to NCAA Championships

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - The Florida State men's track and field team put together some phenomenal performances on their final day of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. A total of eight Noles and two relay teams will be headed to Eugene, Ore. for the NCAA Outdoor Championships. I was really pleased with our performances today, said Head Coach Bob Braman. The 4x100m relay got us off to a great start with a really good time on a wet track on a cold night, and we had some guys gut it out to punch their ticket to nationals.. We have set ourselves up really well to compete for a title in Eugene. The 4x100m relay started the night off with a bang as Taylor Banks, Amir Willis, Don'dre Swint and Jo'Vaughn Martin combined to run 38.51 on a cold and wet night. Davis, Grimes and Wildschutt Punch Tickets to NCAA Championship

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Three Noles punched their tickets to Eugene, Ore., for the NCAA Outdoor Championships at the NCAA East Preliminary in Bloomington, Ind. Jeremiah Davis and Isaac Grimes were the first duo to punch their tickets with solid performances in the long jump. Davis had a mark of 7.75m while Grimes posted 7.71m to finish sixth and seventh respectively. The Noles had three entries in the 100m dash and all three of them are moving onto Friday's quarterfinal race. Jo'Vaughn Martin ran a season-best 10.05 to finish third among qualifiers while Don'dre Swint ran a personal best 10.14 to finish eighth. Taylor Banks also ran a personal best 10.17 to finish 14th. In the men's 400m dash, Sean Watkins Jr. (46.18) and DaeQwan Butler (46.84) each advanced to Friday's quarterfinal race. James Rivera ran a gritty race in the rain in the 400m hurdles to qualify for the quarterfinal race. Rivera clocked a time of 51.50 to finish second in his heat.
