The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) on Friday called on the government to act on minimum wage increase petitions, instead of passing on the responsibility to the next administration.

DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay (File photo) MANILA - Some 116 establishments affected by the implementation of Alert Level 3 in many areas of the country, including Metro Manila, have so far applied for cash assistance under the Covid-19 Adjustment Measures Program (CAMP) 3 of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). In a virtual forum on Monday, DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said the 116 companies have 1,223 workers who will benefit from CAMP 3. "Latest applicant in the system as of 4 p.m.: 116 establishments involving 1,223," she said. Meanwhile, Tutay also reported that close to 500 individuals have filed their applications for the one-time cash assistance worth PHP5,000. She said the online application was officially opened at 12:01 a.m. Monday. Tutay clarified that those who are covered by CAMP 3 are workers who are affected by temporary closure, permanent closure, and retrenchment of companies. "As of January 23, the number of workers affected by temporary closure, permanent closure, and retrenchment has reached 25,855 coming from 1,676 establishments," Tutay said. Among the priority sectors include hotel accommodation and food services, construction, manufacturing, education, wholesale and retail, administrative and support service, and other services. She said establishments that are implementing flexible work arrangement are not covered by the CAMP 3 program. (PNA) }

(File photo) MANILA - Some 30,000 local and overseas job opportunities are available in the hybrid job fair of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE). DOLE Assistant Secretary Dominique Tutay said over 200 employers are participating in the nationwide job fair that started on December 6 and will run until December 13. "We have recorded around 30,000 jobs day incentives, this is nationwide coming from more than 200 employers as well. We started yesterday here in the National Capital Region a first hand face to face job fair and our job seekers have the opportunity to interview by our employers themselves," she said during the Laging Handa briefing on Tuesday. "It is still going on in various regions until December 13, it can be done online and we also have face to face meetings in other parts of the country," she added. The public is advised to go to www.ble.dole.gov.ph for information on the job fairs. On the other hand, Tutay said some 7,000 overseas jobs are available in Europe and Asia. "We have overseas vacancies that have been recorded around 7,000, such as cooks, waiters, nurses, even construction related plumbers. These are the job openings that are being offered at this job fair and they are in the UK, Germany, and Japan," she added. Tutay said those who are looking to be employed are qualified to participate in the job fairs. "All of our job seekers, those who lost their jobs before and want to return to work, the same goes for our out of school youth who opted not to return to school but want to work, they are qualified to participate," she said. Aside from the National Capital Region, limited face-to-face and online job fairs will also be conducted in the Bicol Region, and the Zamboanga Peninsula. In Region 5, the face-to-face job fair will be held at 4F Ayala Mall Legazpi, Legazpi City, Albay on December 8 while online job seekers may visit the DOLE Bicol Region's online platform partner, https://www.workbank.com/. For jobseekers in Region 9, they may visit the KCC Mall de Zamboanga in Zamboanga City on Dec. 8. They may also visit the online platform, DOLE IX Job Fair System on December 8-10.
