Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano said they have yet to confirm the information from incoming Chief Presidential Legal Counsel and former senator Juan Ponce Enrile regarding groups that may create chaos and try to harm Marcos. Enrile did not provide specific details but Ano asserted that it is safe to assume that the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People's Army (CPP-NPA) has plans on the matter. "Sa ngayon (At present), we are not privy to a specific intelligence report, but we can surmise the CPP-NPA and its cohorts are actually, have the intent to cause e
DILGSecretary Eduardo Ano (Screengrab from DILG press briefing) MANILA - Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano on Thursday gave the Cebu provincial government a three-day ultimatum to rectify its newly-passed ordinance which made the wearing of face masks in open and well-ventilated areas in the province optional. "We will be giving the Cebu provincial government, the governor, and the councilors to amend, rectify, and adjust their ordinance and EO to be consistent with the EO 151 and the guidelines in the implementation of the alert level system which is part of EO 151. Maybe over the weekend, we will give them a chance to rectify this. After the weekend then we will do whatever is necessary," Ano said in a press briefing in Camp Crame. Ano maintained that the ordinance passed by the Cebu provincial board cannot supersede President Rodrigo Duterte's Executive Order (EO) 151 which mandates the use of face masks all over the country except in allowable circumstances. He emphasize

"Ganun ang mangyayari diyan. Kapag patuloy nila yan gagawin at nagkakaroon na talaga tayo ng injury, damage and confusion eh talagang hindi naman pupuwede ang ating national government ay pababayaan lang mangyari ang ganyan (That's what we will do. If they continue to do it and it causes injury, damage and confusion, the national government cannot just allow that to happen)," Interior Secretary Eduardo Ano said in a radio interview on Wednesday. This came as the national government and the Cebu provincial government continue to lock horns over the mask mandate, with the Cebu provincial board siding with Garcia as it passed an ordinance adopted

I hope that you will back him in his efforts to bring peacebuilding, public safety, and local governance to greater heights," Ano said in his last command visit to the BJMP headquarters. As he bade farewell to jail personnel, he also urged them to "rise to higher pedestals" in building a safer nation. "Huwag sana kayong magsawang paglingkuran ang ating mga kababayan, dahil naniniwala akong isa sa mga pinaka-marangal na propesyon sa mundo ay ang trabaho ng isang taga-pamahala ng b
(File photo) MANILA - Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Eduardo Ano on Friday said authorities will continue enforcing mask mandates across the country, stressing that the coronavirus pandemic is not yet over. This came after Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, in Executive Order 8 dated June 8, limited the use of face masks in the province to indoor spaces only. "This Department does not recognize the Executive Order issued by Cebu Governor Gwen Garcia because we have the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) guidelines approved by the President. The Philippine National Police will continue to confront, apprehend, and arrest, if necessary, all violators of IATF guidelines and MPHS (minimum public health standards) in the Province of Cebu," Ano said in a statement. He said President Rodrigo Duterte has directed the continued wearing of face masks except under circumstances defined by the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-EID). C
