Mehdi Masroor Biswas, originally from Kolkata, was arrested by the Bengaluru Police in 2014 for running a Twitter account that posted several tweets supporting the ideology of the Islamic State (ISIS).
The Court observed that the circumstances of the case suggested that the actions of the accused were within the ambit of an attempt to conspire to wage war upon the Government of India.
The man had attacked Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) constable Anil Kumar Paswan to try and snatch his weapon. When other constables came to Paswan's rescue, he attacked them with a sickle and injured them.
