Ramaphosas supporters were picketing outside Nasrec in Johannesburg, on Monday.

The union, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary in Limpopo on Saturday, made the call in the wake of another fallout within the governing partys leadership structures.

Mashatile said it was not an issue that Ramaphosa did not consult with the ANC on the report but would be given a platform to do so in the near future.

“The President is seriously considering taking the S89 panel report on review,” his spokesperson Vincent Magwenya told Eyewitness News.

On Friday, the NEC cancelled its meeting after some ANC members raised issues with matters being discussed at NEC level before they have passed through the national working committee (NWC).

While the nation waited with bated breath to hear if Ramaphosa would indeed step down, his spokesperson instead took to the podium announcing that there would be no speech from the president.

The inquiry found evidence that Ramaphosa might have committed serious misconduct in relation to a large amount of cash stolen from his Limpopo game farm in 2020.

A rash of cancellations have been announced of official presidency events that were scheduled for Thursday. This follows the release of the independent panel report into the Phala Phala scandal.
