question right now, for example, around the world you have millions of young people being educated in religion in very strict terms and dedicated to an ideology that preaches hatred against those that are different. if you ve got that going on in the world, of course you ve got to protect yourself by security methods, but in the end you ve got to be rooting out that type of education and that type of propaganda. this is where obviously the internet is also very important. one of the things we work on in my institute is how you manage to stop these types of messages getting through to people wh. when you go onto these sites you divert them to sites that are more positive. this requires, frankly, a revolution in approach way beyond anything we ve done so far. otherwise, i m afraid this problem is going to grow. you talk about your institute, the institute for global change. do you feel like you re swimming against the tide right now when nationalism seems to be the trend? i think i
the last week, you would feel comfortable with a commercial flight taking off from sharm el sheikh airport and landing here at jfk. that flight does not exist now, but would you feel comfortable if it did? well, i would feel comfortable if our homeland security folks were there where the flight originated and made sure that the procedures were as careful as they need to be. and, you know, that s what has to happen all over the world. we re focused on this particular point of origin in egypt because egypt has been the subject of a number of terrorist groups, but the rest of the story is, we know since 9/11 terrorist groups, not just isis, but various branches of al qaeda, are focused on aviation. and they keep adapting and changing their methods to get around our security methods. and they ll keep doing that, but we can t, you know, cower in our homes and refuse to fly because
city mayor rudy giuliani. in all the cases, the fbi determined that that powder was not hazardous. we should underscore the point that these are the kind of scenarios that law enforcement officials have spent so long preparing for in the runp to the super bowl. today is the day preparations will be tested and law enforcement tells us they are confident about the security measures they will put into place and in train stations today. a super bowl that will rely on mass transit more tharn any super bowl in the past. some 15,000 ticket holders will actually have their bags screened before leaving the train station because the train station lets out right near metlife stadium and, of course, anyone who is entering metlife stadium will go through strict screening and security methods. similar to airport-style security. metlife has hosted significant events in the past. in the 90s host to a papal visit and world cup soccer game. but one security expert tells us
arena s excuse they were using different security methods. in their defense, it is a new arena. the jay-z concert was the first there. i am not sure i buy it either, but it is technically possible they were doing that. it is possible and not probable. in the future i guarantee they will not make that mistake again. i agree. why is being wanded less intrusive than walking through a metal detector? i don t know. when i thought of a wand i thought of crazy tsa invasive stuff. i agree was 100%. i don t know. thoab minds walking through the metal detector. it is the other stuff. it is the ouch iting and groabing. groping. and lastly on the wycliffe thing, this guy is 43 and announcing to everybody is it is his birthday. is he 12? no, he is 43. that s why you thought he was 12. hi, everyone, it is my birthday. shot up.
barbara streisand held a concert and attendees were met with metal wands. the new york post reported it is a less intrusive security measure than the metal detectors at the doors of the jay-z concerts. they called it a double standard, but reps for the arena deny the policy was racially motivated, that they were testing different security methods. the arena said they will no longer use the metal detectors for any events for the foreseeable future. discuss in the lightning roooouuuunnnnnnddd. lightning round. jedediah, do you buy their reason for switching? no.
