Microsoft has announced that it will remove Adobe Flash Player from all versions of Windows 10 through the KB4577586 “Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Player” in June. The update will be included in the Monthly Rollup and the Security Only Update for Windows 8.1, Windows Server 2012, and Windows Embedded 8 Standard in July.

Microsoft in an update to its blog post announced that it will be completely removing Adobe Flash Player as a component of Windows 10 starting in July.
For those unaware, back in July 2017, Microsoft, along with Adobe and their industry technology partners, had announced that Adobe Flash Player will no longer be supported after December 31, 2020.
The decision to end support for Flash Player was made by Adobe due to the diminished usage of the technology and the availability of better, more secure options such as HTML5, WebGL, and WebAssembly.

Now that Flash has officially reached its end of life, it seems that Microsoft will also be taking more proactive steps in removing it from Windows 10 computers. This is according to an updated blog post on Microsoft’s website where they revealed that they will include a Flash Player removal tool in Windows 10 patches starting this summer.

“Starting in June 2021, the KB4577586 “Update for Removal of Adobe Flash Player” will be included in the Preview Update for Windows 10, version 1809 and above platforms. It will also be included in every subsequent Latest Cumulative Update.”

Microsoft had started the process of removing Adobe Flash Player from Windows 10 devices back in 2020 with the rollout of KB4577586, which was a manual update. The Windows maker is now planning to release two updates to finalize this process and eliminate Flash Player from its desktop operating system completely.
The decision to kill Flash Player was made by Adobe, Microsoft, other industry leaders back in 2017 both due to its declining usage and its increasing security concerns.
