The Department of Correction reported that the contractor that manages the jails’ phone system recorded nearly 2,300 calls between inmates and lawyers with three public defender firms. The screw-up, first reported by the Daily News in March, has put attorney-client recordings into the hands of prosecutors in all five boroughs, and could jeopardize hundreds of cases.
