The Board of Select Persons this week OK'd the abatement for Melissa Patterson, who happens to be a member of the board, and there are eight others who are expected to ask the board to also have their abatements reapproved.

Nine homeowners who said they for years have put up with the noise from the Central Maine Power Co. substation near Albion Road recently told the Board of Select Persons the abatements they had received were discontinued.

Benton residents on the general election ballot will consider four warrant articles, including one to expand the Board of Select Persons from three members to five.

In municipal elections held Tuesday, Robin Cyr was elected to a one-year term on the Board of Select Persons.

A former member of the Board of Select Persons, Robin Cyr, will be the only name on the ballot when residents go to the polls Tuesday, June 14, to fill a vacancy on the board.

Voters over the weekend also approved the use of $75,000 in federal pandemic relief aid for a variety of town projects.
