Chester s First Selectwoman Writes To The Community

Reply CHESTER, CT A letter to the community from Chester s First Selectwoman Lauren Gister: Dear Chester, First, a huge thank you to Joey Chester and Abe Smith for clearing the snow off of Jennings Pond to create great skating for everyone! Nice to see everyone outside having fun! Subscribe President Biden put it in the starkest of terms last night, noting that the 500,000 COVID-related fatalities was more death this nation has experienced than World War I, WWII, and Vietnam combined. This has been a difficult year for many, but most of all for those who have lost loved ones to the coronavirus. Let s hope that, with vaccines and our careful actions going forward, we will see fewer deaths and regain some semblance of normalcy (whatever that will really look like) in the very near future.

(Rachel Nunes/Patch) CHESTER, CT With an eye towards helping to find new ways to dispose of trash in the state, while at the same time reducing the amount of waste generated in Connecticut, the Chester Board of Selectman decided, at their last meeting, to join the Connecticut Coalition for Sustainable Materials Management (CCSMM). The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection DEEP invited Chester to be part of the coalition that the neighboring towns of Essex and Deep River are already members of. Now Chester has gotten on board, to lend a hand in coming up with a solution to the problem of trash in Connecticut.

Wide Spread Wi-Fi Coming For Downtown Chester

Reply Downtown Chester is getting a Wi-Fi upgrade. (Karena Garrity) CHESTER, CT Thanks to the reinstated Connecticut Small Town Economic Assistance Program (STEAP), the downtown area of Chester will have enhanced Wi-Fi and internet connection soon. STEAP grants have returned to the state, to help fund capital improvement projects in 94 small towns. Chester s grant is for $85,744. Terms of the grant call for the town to kick in $10,000 for a total of $95,744 to be used to implement public Wi-Fi and internet connection throughout the downtown area, by fitting adapters to the streetlights. According to First Selectwoman Lauren Gister, currently, cell and internet service is less than stellar in the area, and the addition of this technology upgrade will help not only the business owners and economic development but also visitors and emergency communications.
