This is climate change
One of the main reasons academics explain our previous inability to act on climate change is the separation in time between our actions and their consequences, and I agree that this has made taking action difficult in the past. But this is no longer a valid excuse. Climate change is here and now, and continuing to talk about climate change as a future problem is climate denial.
As Councilor Greg Evans said at a work session on June 16 discussing Eugene s franchise agreement with NW Natural Gas, “The climate is changing rapidly and I think that our response to it is slow and it s late.”
