The Union Cabinet has approved a central scheme to provide drones to 15,000 progressive women Self Help Groups (SHGs) with an outlay of Rs 1,261 crore for two years beginning 2024-25.

As a part of the plan, the government will provide women SHGs 80% of the cost of the drone or its accessories and ancillaries for a maximum of up to Rs 800,000, while the rest of the amount can be raised by the cluster-level federation of the SHG as loan.
