Minnesota State Senator Nicole Mitchell (DFL-Woodbury) will be relieved of her committee assignments and removed from caucus meetings following her arrest for suspected burglary last week. 

Actual removal requires a two-thirds majority in order to succeed, and it’s evident DFLers had no interest in signing off to end their majority.

"If she was convicted of (the felony), then I don't see realistically how she would stay in the military," said defense attorney Chris Keyser, who has served as a military lawyer for 14 years.

Her lawyer said since it is a procedural day Miller will work remotely.

Minnesota Senate Republicans filed an ethics complaint following Sen. Nicole Mitchell's arrest early Monday morning in Detroit Lakes.

The more-immediate concern is how the arrest of Sen. Nicole Mitchell will affect the final month of the Minnesota legislative session.
