Deputy Jeremy Macon has been appointed as Jersey s next education minister.
Deputy Macon will replace Senator Tracey Vallois who resigned in January after claiming her concerns about the reopening of schools in the island had been dismissed.
He will retain his position as the minister for children as part of his new role.
Deputy Russell Labey will fill Mr Macon s previous appointment as housing minister.
Both members were nominated by chief minister John Le Fondre and were not challenged for the positions.
Under his new title as the minister for children and education, Deputy Macon said he planned to introduce more internships and apprenticeships in a bid to improve employability among young people.

Funded nursery hours, for three and four-year-olds in Jersey will not be extended from the current 20 hours to 30 without fresh consultation, says the new Education Minister.
Deputy Jeremy Maçon has refused to follow through with the commitment expressed by Senator Tracey Vallois in December last year.
He said he had not ditched the intention but said the move would require consultation with industry as well as changes to the Nursery Education Fund.

She will serve on the Children, Education and Home Affairs panel, the Public Accounts Committee and the Privileges and Procedures Committee.It will see her review and scrutinise the actions and policies of the Government that she was a member of until recently.After two and half years as Education Minister, Senator Vallois stepped down amid disagreements with the rest of the Council of Ministers over the safety of reopening schools.She has extensive experience in Scrutiny prior to her role in government, having worked on reviews of issues including Higher Education Funding, Income Support and Criminal Justice.Deputy David Johnson is new the chair of Jersey s Economic and International Affairs Scrutiny Panel.
