The Gauhati HC had on Tuesday issued a public notice deferring the oath ceremony of Goswami. Both Nair and Goswami were recommended by the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud on October 17.
With the appointment of Senior Advocate Kaushik Goswami, the Gauhati High Court will have 25 judges, as opposed to its sanctioned strength of 30 judges.
