Mammoth $15k fine after petrol-stealing dad zooms through red light

Barry Ernest Adams, 34, appeared for sentencing in Ipswich District Court, after pleading guilty to 11 charges, including two of evading police and five of stealing. Ipswich District Court heard the father-of-two drove off with more than $600 worth of petrol across multiple instances, filling up but leaving petrol stations without paying. Adams stole the petrol on five dates between December 26, 2019 and March 3, 2020. The court heard police spotted Barry driving on May 21, 2020 and tried to pull him over.

Home-made gun under seat was loaded: Police

Ipswich Magistrates Court this week heard the homemade weapon was found loaded with five .22 calibre bullets, after police intercepted the vehicle at Leichhardt on August 19, 2020. Shania Rose King, 22 from Brassall pleaded guilty to 11 charges including the unlawful possession of a short firearm; carrying a loaded weapon; unlawful possession of ammunition; unlawful possession of motor vehicles; and possession of dangerous drugs. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bernard Elmore said the Mercedes Benz was intercepted just before 6.30pm.

Mum s verbal spray on Ipswich train earns fine

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard Stephanie Gumbleton was on a Rosewood-bound train at 2.10pm when she was involved in an argument. It ended with her being met by police and charged. Stephanie Lee Gumbleton, 27, from Rosewood, pleaded guilty to creating a public nuisance on a train on November 5; and drinking alcohol on a train. Prosecutor Senior Constable Bernard Elmore said police received a complaint that a woman with a child in a pram was being disruptive and arguing with a man in the train carriage.

Ice bust a wake up call for young dad

Ashley Mitchell was found with 2.2 grams of the drug after a police patrol pulled over his car at Redbank on November 22 last year, Ipswich Magistrates Court heard. Ashley Eric Mitchell, 36, from Dinmore, pleaded guilty to drug and driving offences, including possession of a dangerous drug – schedule 1 quantity/or exceeding schedule 3 on November 22, 2019; possession of dangerous drugs; having property used in a drug offence; possession of property acquired for the purpose of committing a drug offence; driving when unlicensed (demerit points); and driving when drug positive while unlicensed.

Meth-fuelled crime wave comes to end after car crash

Premium Content Subscriber only A METH addiction was blamed for a man’s crime wave in which he ended up with a haul of stolen goods. It all came undone when he was caught crashing a stolen ute. The owner of the stolen Holden saw it and was following the driver at the time of the crash, Ipswich Magistrates Court heard. It had been stolen from Woodend the day before but now had false plates attached when spotted. Just before it spun out of control and crashed into trees, witnesses say it was being driven at 120km/h in a 60km speed zone on Sumners Rd in Middle Park.
