The Nifty faced initial resistance around its previous swing high of 22,526. Therefore, for a further rally, it needs to move decisively beyond 22,525. On the lower end, 22,200 might act as support for the short term.

The MCX April gold futures were trading at Rs 66,491 per 10 grams, rising Rs 124 or 0.19% while May silver futures were trading at Rs 74,808 per kg, higher by Rs 146 or 0.20%.

The Nifty Bank gained 338 points to close at 47,124, while on the weekly front, the index rose 0.5%. The Nifty50 gained more than 200 points to close at 22,326 on Thursday. SBI, Bank of Baroda, PNB, and ICICI Bank were among the top gainers, while some selling was seen in IDFC First Bank, Axis Bank, and Bandhan Bank.

The Dollar Index (DXY) is hovering above the 104 mark against a basket of six top currencies at 104.39, up by 0.16 points or 0.16%. It has gained 0.95% over the past five trading sessions.

The upcoming week is likely to remain volatile as the March Future and options F&O series will expire.

Gold and silver contracts opened positively on Wednesday, with April gold futures gaining 0.12% and May silver futures rising by 0.10%. Prices have declined from their all-time high due to fears of prolonged elevated interest rates and higher consumer inflation in the US. MCX gold prices have risen 4.78% MTD and 3.73% YTD.

The Nifty Bank index fell more than 300 points to close at 46,981, while the Nifty50 closed 1.5% lower below 22,000 levels. PNB, Bandhan Bank, Bank of Baroda, and Federal Bank were among the top index losers.
