Locals celebrated the unofficial kickoff to the holiday season with Hometown Holidays events on Nov. 25 in downtown Sequim.

Holiday events offered today

Port Angeles and Sequim both will mark the Saturday after Thanksgiving with tree-lighting ceremonies to coincide with Small Business Saturday, while the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center offers an alternative to Black Friday shopping today.

Shoppers can support local artists at the Small Business Saturday Fiber Artists Market — the final event of the 18th-annual North Olympic Fiber Arts Festival — set for 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Sequim Museum & Arts, 544 N. Sequim Ave.

Lights will glow in Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend along with special events this Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Sequim’s Hometown Holidays returns this Saturday with musical and seasonal appearances by local musicians and North Pole residents along with continuing traditions of the downtown tree lighting and tractor cruise.

The Olympic Driftwood Sculptors will showcase works from several of its 45 members during the First Friday Art Walk on Dec. 1 at Sequim Museum & Arts, 544 N. Sequim Avenue, Sequim.

The North Olympic Peninsula Railroaders’ annual Model Train Show and Swap is on the move to the Red Lion Hotel in Port Angeles.
