Fifty-five-year-old Kudoro Gabriel was visibly sad and troubled narrating the pathetic experience with herders who severed his fingers with a machete. The farmer who lives at Ibeku village, Ketuland in the Yewa-North Local Government Area of Ogun State said he had been rendered useless after the attack.
Saturday PUNCH observed that three of his fingers were severed and the points patched. He lamented that he was deformed by Fulani herdsmen who wanted to kill him but ended up chopping off his fingers.
Kudoro said, “The Fulani herdsmen destroyed my barn, where I stored corn. Getting to the place I saw cows eating crops in the barn. I called on the herder who owns them. But instead of checking what the cows did, he rushed at me with a machete. If not that I used my hand to stop the machete before it severed my fingers, he would have cut off my head. As you can see, what can I use the hand for? Nothing. It’s hard to use the hand to work

In recent times, the kidnappings that have occurred along Akure-Owo Expressway between Ayede Ogbese and Uso communities are alarming. As a traditional chief, why do you think this is happening in your domain?
The fact of the matter is that at a point between the Ogbese River; which is our patrimony and very important to the people of Ayede-Ogbese; between that point and the community of Uso, you would understand that there are linguistic, geographical and cultural affinities between the people of Ayede-Ogbese and Uso. Alhaji Kabiru Garba has been installed as the new Sarkin Hausawa of Lagos state, by the Arewa council.
His installation followed the demise of his father, Alhaji Sanni Kabiru, who was Chairman of the council of Arewa chiefs and Sarki Hausawa of Lagos state.
During his installation ceremony at the Arewa House in Ebute Metta, Lagos, chiefs of various Hausa districts in Lagos, among who were Seriki Ajrromi Ifelodun, Idi-Araba, Okokomaiko, Oshodi, Mushin, Ikorodu, Kosofe and Seriki Fulani, Alhaji Mohammed Zagagati, individually paid homage to the new Emir.
The representative of the Emir of Borgu Kingdom in Niger State, Mr Mike Nwaede, who was also present, described the demise of the former Seriki Hausawa, Alhaji Sanni Kabiru, as a big blow to the Hausa community in Lagos.
