The group alleged this was because Bravus Mining and Resources had failed to properly prepare construction sites on the rail corridor for the wet season.
The conditions required the development and implementation of erosion and sediment control measures.
Mackay Conservation Group provided photos – taken about two weeks after heavy rainfall in December – of what it claimed were the alleged breaches.
An office of the Coordinator-General spokeswoman said it had received advice from independent experts engaged to help with an investigation into allegations of a breach of conditions within the Galilee Basin State Development Area.
“The MyWay trial has replaced the previously scheduled bus services in our district with a successful public transport solution that is far better suited to the needs of our community,” Timaru District Council’s submission to the LTP says. “In particular, it caters exceptionally well to the needs of Timaru s growing aged population, the disability sector and new migrants. “Council feels strongly that discontinuation of MyWay would disadvantage these sectors and constitute a major step back in the suitability of public transport service provision.” The submission also argues that responding to climate change has been identified as a priority in the district council’s own draft LTP “and we consider that continuation of MyWay offers opportunity for TDC and Environment Canterbury to collaborate with climate change goals in mind”.
