Since last week’s passage of the 2023-24 state budget, many details of the $229 billion spending plan have been slowly bubbling to the surface because state lawmakers were not able to digest the thousands of pages compiled into 10 bills that make up the document that will govern people’s lives for at least the next year.
It took a full extra month and five extensions, but Governor Kathy Hochul and legislative leaders have finally come to an agreement on a 2023-24 budget.

ALBANY, NY – New York State Senator Daphne Jordan (R,C,I-Halfmoon) today announced that she has written to Governor Kathy Hochul, Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, and Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie advocating on behalf of Boards Of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) Career Technical Education (CTE) programs.
In her correspondence issued yesterday afternoon, Senator Jordan called for increased state support for BOCES CTE positions, as well as increased funding for Special Services programs to be reflected within the final 2022-23 State Budget.

Whitaker recently touched on the issues Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s proposed 2021-22 state budget presents for school districts. As Whitaker said a couple of weeks ago, the news for Jamestown’s 2021-22 budget is good. The district appears in line to get all of its previously withheld state aid as part of the March state aid payment from the state while proposed aid in the 2021-22 budget is stable because the state is using all of its projected federal stimulus money to offset state aid cuts.
