by Councillor Steve Morris If you’re feeling disappointed by decisions to increase rates by 20 per cent, frustrated at how your money is being spent on a $14.2m increase in Council staff salaries this year, disenfranchised by having your right to vote taken from you, you’re not alone. A strong voice for ratepayers is more important than ever. So a group of Tauranga residents, chairs and former chairs of ratepayers associations, civic leaders, and local members of the Taxpayers’ Union h...

National MP Another week, another shambles from this government. We’ve seen terrible housing statistics, failures at our border, horticulturalists struggling to get their fruit picked and major delays in Covid vaccinations; we were supposed to be at the front of the vaccination queue and now we’re the second last in the OECD. Only 23 per cent of our total vaccinations have been administered on schedule, and they don’t even know which border staff have been vaccinated. Another major con...

In my recent columns I’ve talked about the big issues for Tauranga. I’ve discussed Transport and Housing but haven’t yet detailed the other big two, Law and Order and the CBD; so today I want to talk law and order. Crime, from petty anti-social behaviour through to the most serious violence, is getting worse in our city. I could bamboozle you with statistics but I’ll spare you from that today. It’s inarguable though and as the locally elected MP I’ve talked recently to shopkeepers w...

Posted on 01-01-2021 21:16 | By CC8 Like Caveman, I will leave mine right where they put them, if they dare to put them on my private property I will put them back on Council property. I have had this service since 1998, and it only costs me $11.00 per empty, why change NOW? I don’t want or need any council bullshit. If I am forced to bring them...
