New Delhi, March 15 : Calling it a rarest of the rare case, a Delhi Court on Monday awarded death penalty to Ariz Khan, convicted of the murder of police inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and other offences, in the 2008 Batla House encounter case.
On March 08, the court had convicted Khan in the case, noting that he murdered encounter specialist and Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma.
He has been awarded the capital punishment under Section 302 (murder), three months jail under section 186 (Obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions), tens year under 333 (voluntarily causes grievous hurt).

New Delhi [India], March 15 (ANI): Delhi Special Cell DCP Sanjeev Kumar Yadav, who led the team during the 2008 Batla House encounter, on Monday said the court s verdict awarding the death penalty to the convict will boost up the morale of the police.
Speaking to ANI, Yadav said, It is a very good judgment by the court. It will boost up the morale of the police and the team involved in the encounter. It is a real tribute to Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma who lost his life in the encounter. I worked with him for over four years. He was a very professional officer. It is a matter of relief that his killer has been awarded the death penalty.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday came down hard at the Congress and other Opposition parties following a Delhi court s verdict awarding death sentence to Indian Mujahideen terrorist Ariz Khan for the murder of decorated Delhi Police Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma in connection with the sensational 2008 Batla House encounter case.Â
Slamming Congress president Sonia Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal for raising questions over the encounter, Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said the verdict has exposed those who have a habit of sympathising with terrorists.

New Delhi, March 15 : Thirteen years after the Batla House encounter, a Delhi Court on Monday sentenced Ariz Khan, who was convicted of the murder of inspector Mohan Chand Sharma and other offences, to death.
Additional Sessions Judge Sandeep Yadav called it a rarest of rare case while awarding the death penalty.
The prosecution had sought death penalty for Khan in the case, while the counsel for the convict sought leniency on the ground of his young age.
