Children attending Minot Roosevelt Park Zoo’s Day Camp pose for a photo on Thursday with the replica of a $250,000 check presented to the zoo by the Minot Area Community Foundation. The check will go to the zoo’s new Amur leopard habitat. Others in the photo include zoo staff and representatives of the Foundation, Minot Park District and Greater Minot Zoological Society. Zoo staff handed out stuffed leopards for each youngster attending day camp on Thursday.
Roosevelt Park Zoo is steps closer to a new Amur leopard habitat.
On Thursday, the zoo received a $250,000 grant from the Minot Area Community Foundation. Foundation President Jason Zimmerman made the presentation to Ron Merritt, Minot Parks executive director.

This is an aerial view of the new leopard habitat planned for Minotâs Roosevelt Park Zoo. The new habitat for the leopards will be constructed at the zooâs former cat habitat. The African lions and Amur tigers have newly constructed habitats.
Funds are continuing to be raised for the new leopard habitat at Minot’s Roosevelt Park Zoo.
After the completion of the new habitats for the African lions and Amur tigers, $1.3 million was left over from those projects and will go to the leopard habitat, according to Jennifer Kleen, executive director of the Greater Minot Zoological Society.
