Publix to open new Hoover store Updated May 10, 2021; The store, at 4293 South Shades Crest Rd. at Morgan Road Plaza, will open at 7 a.m. The 48,300-square-foot store will employ 135, the company said. The new Publix will have traditional grocery, dairy and frozen food departments along with full-service bakery, deli, pharmacy, seafood, meat and produce departments. The store also features a floor plan with a mezzanine sitting area, and indoor and outdoor café seating with social distancing measures. There will be in-store WiFi. The pharmacy will also offer COVID-19 vaccinations while supplies last. Publix continues to follow CDC guidelines and will be requiring all customers and employees to wear facial coverings inside the store.
