Two families were displaced after a fire tore through a duplex in Central Visalia.
Just after 3 a.m. Thursday, firefighters were called to the structure fire in the 900 block of North Rinaldi Street, near the Visalia Cemetery. Firefighters were told that two vehicles were also threatened by flames.
A second alarm was called because of multiple 911 calls and information that not everyone was out of the complex, according to firefighters. The first crew to arrive reported heavy fire coming from the duplex.
Firefighters quickly tried to control the fire and limit damage to the building, Battalion Chief Tom Van Grouw said. However, both units of the duplex were significantly damaged in the blaze.
