A British-Iranian academic who escaped from Iran on foot in a hazardous getaway through the mountains has been accused of sexual assault and harassment.
Kameel Ahmady, who recently told of his perilous escape from Iran, has reportedly been accused of assaulting a number of women.
Ahmady, who now resides in the UK, has denied the accusations.

Four women told The Guardian that Ahmady assaulted them, and others have made allegations of repeated sexual harassment.

A court in Iran has handed a nine-year jail sentence to British-Iranian anthropologist Kameel Ahmady, after convicting him of conducting “subversive” research work, the semi-official news agency Tasnim said on Sunday.
Ahmady was also fined 600,000 euros ($727,000) – the sum Iranian authorities said he received for his research from institutions accused of seeking to topple Iran’s Islamic government, Tasnim reported.

TEHRAN, Iran Iran sentenced a British-Iranian anthropologist who has studied child marriage and female genital mutilation to nine years in jail and fined him over $700,000 in cash, the semiofficial Tasnim news agency reported Sunday.
The report said Kameel Ahmady was sentenced by Iran’s Revolutionary Court on charges of co-operation with European embassies in support of promoting homosexuality, visiting Israel as a reporter for the BBC, co-operation and communication with foreign and hostile media, infiltration aimed at changing the law, and sending false reports about the country to the U.N.’s special rapporteur on human rights in Iran.
