Leave it to luck or wisdom or anything open to interpretations, the Bangladesh Tariqat Federation has seen its nominated candidate picked to lead the Election Commission for the second time in a row.
In a recent press briefing, Justice Obaidul Hassan, chair of the Search Committee for the Election Commission (EC), confirmed their decision not to disclose the names of the 10 individuals they will recommend to the president to constitute the new EC.
Law Minister Anisul Huq today said that the government has formed the Election Commission law to strengthen the commission and to bring transparency and accountability in the election process.
Bangladesh Tariqat Federation came to discussions after the formation of incumbent Election Commission five years ago as CEC KM Nurul Huda and election commissioners Rafiqul Islam and Brig Gen (retd) Shahadat Hossain Chowdhury were appointed as per recommendations made by the party.
