MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Republicans in the Alabama House of Representatives said Wednesday that legislation abolishing the permit requirement to carry a concealed handgun will be among their top priorities in the upcoming legislation session.

Three bills pre-filed in the Alabama House and Senate would legalize permitless or "Constitutional Carry" in the state. The enactment of the bills would also foster an environment more hostile to federal gun control.

Turning a Constitutional Carry bill into law in the state won't be as easy as you might think.

AL.com reports that Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran spoke before the Mobile County Commission last week endorsing a resolution to keep permits.

But one sheriff is doing everything he can to stop Constitutional Carry from passing.
