Last week, Georgia became the 25th state to implement a permitless carry law. Governors in Alabama, Indiana and Ohio have also signed so-called "constitutional carry" bills during this legislative session. These laws allow people otherwise legally able to possess a firearm to carry concealed without a permit from the state.

Three more states have instituted permitless carry this year, bringing the total number of permitless carry states to 24.

The governors in Alabama, Indiana and Ohio signed constitutional carry measures into law this month.

Passage ended a years-long battle between gun rights groups and law enforcement agencies over gun carry.

The bill passed 23 to 6 after a 90-minute debate that touched on gun access and public safety.
