To preserve the scenes of fallen cherry blossoms for the public to admire, the Shanghai Landscaping &City Appearance Administrative Bureau has announced that minimal sweeping will be done on five roads in the city.
The roads are: Xinyue Road in Pudong New Area, Yongle Road in Baoshan district, Binhu Road in Songjiang district, Jiangwancheng Road in Yangpu district and Yonghe East Road in Jing an district.
The bureau said that workers will carry out general sweeping of these roads, including picking up cigarette butts, paper scraps and other garbage hidden within the carpet of flowers, every day during good weather conditions. Thorough cleaning will be performed on rainy days or special circumstances to ensure the safety of pedestrians.
