Covid-19 task force members list remains non-updated on website, Newsline DePaul’s Covid-19 task force members list remains outdated despite several members changing positions. After closing campus last spring, DePaul created the task force to monitor Covid-19 in Chicago and on campus.  According to Newsline, this task force was “a group of more than 30 DePaul administrators, staff and faculty who are applying best practices and guidance from medical and public health professionals to the complexities of restarting campus.”  Health sciences professor Craig Klugman is one of the force’s medical professionals, along with Associate Director of Emergency Services Cheryl Hoover and Director of Health Promotion and Wellness Shannon Suffoletto. They are listed as co-chairs of the Community Health Monitoring committee.

We are told about the rigorous workload, long hours, lack of sleep, extracurriculars and the inevitable burnout we will face. But this tired college student trope can affect students mentally, emotionally and physically.  College students are worn out and it’s not their fault. What does one expect when there are a never-ending plethora of assignments coming at us week after week? In the middle of a pandemic, the outside world is closed off, leaving us to stare at a little screen in our hands to find any source of enjoyment.  

SGA talks health services, privacy concerns

The DePaulia Theodora Koulouvaris, Staff Writer|February 14, 2021 Suffoletto discussed services offered through University Counseling Services (UCS).  Consisting of a team of psychologists, a psychiatrist and other staff, UCS provides counseling to students in different areas such as depression and test anxiety, according to the office’s website.  Suffoletto explained the steps that students take when seeking counseling services. “When a student enters, they’re going to do a 15-minute initial consultation,” Suffoletto said.  Students go through an assessment process first so that the office can figure out why a student wants to enter counseling services according to Suffoletto. Then, a student is matched with a counselor and enters counseling.

DePaul falls short as local universities announce vaccine roll-out plans As universities around Chicago announce their plans to help vaccinate their students and faculty members against Covid-19, DePaul revealed it has no such plan at this time.  “DePaul encourages all faculty, staff and students to get vaccinated when it is their turn. By getting vaccinated, you will put our Vincentian mission into practice by living in service of the common good,” spokesperson Kristin Mathews told The DePaulia.  The statement was later expanded on in a Newsline post.  Other universities around the city have announced comprehensive plans for vaccine distribution. Columbia College Chicago announced free vaccinations would be offered to eligible members of the community. The University of Illinois at Chicago announced they will be charging insurance plans for delivery. And the University of Chicago announced in an internal email that its goal is to “facilitate vaccine access for all eligib
